Is an overnight stop worthwhile on the Sydney-to-Canberra train journey?

We plan to travel by rail in December and would like to break the trip somewhere pleasant if the route makes that practical.

    Start with the current rail timetable and list stations where your train actually stops and permits the tickets you need. A town on the route is not automatically an easy stopover.
